Sekisui Voltek Announces Membership to Carpet Cushion Council
COLDWATER, MI (March 16, 2012)
On August 1, 2011 Sekisui Voltek became a member of the Carpet Cushion Council. This membership gives Sekisui Voltek direct access to the ever growing flooring market. Volara offers unique and desirable properties, which make it a natural fit in a wide variety of flooring applications. The Carpet Cushion Council is dedicated to the expansion of premium quality cushioning products for both residential and commercial carpet markets.
Volara® is a fine-celled, irradiation cross-linked foam that offers an outstanding range of performance characteristics. It offers strong impact resistance yet is conformable enough to compensate for small underlay defects. Low water absorption and vapor transmission make Volara a dependable solution for the carpet cushion market.
The Carpet Cushion Council is the Administrator of the Carpet & Rug Institute (“CRI”) Indoor Air Quality Program. CRI has established the Green Label program to certify Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) levels emitted by cushion products used under carpet. Additionally the materials are analyzed for butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), formaldehyde and 4-phenylcyclohexine (4-PCH).
Certified underlay products are tested regularly to ensure compliance. Cushion products that meet the current emissions standard can display the program’s green and white seal. A consumer seeking a low- VOC emission cushion, can confidently select one bearing the Green Label.
After being accepted as a member in the Carpet Cushion Council, Sekisui Voltek thoroughly tested all the Volara foams manufactured in their Coldwater, Michigan facility for compliance with the Green Label Program. In September, 2011 Sekisui Voltek’s Volara foams received the Green Label Certificate and will proudly display the emblem on their rolls.
